Flexible Benefits
Flexible benefits schemes are becoming increasingly popular with employers. Essentially they enable
the employee themselves to select which benefits they would like to have from a range of choices.
Giving the employee choice tends to increase the perceived value of the benefits available. The reason
for this is that, in order for the employee to exercise the choices, they need to first engage with the
benefits available and make relative value judgements over the merits of each benefit to them as an
individual. This act of engagement alone tends to increase the positive perception of what is available.
Additionally as the employee can select more of a benefit they want, and correspondingly less of a benefit
they don’t want, employers tend to achieve better value for money in terms of the value employees attach
to the benefits program.
Flexible benefits schemes then can be enormously powerful. Similarly they can be complex and difficult
to run and communicate. We can help you decide on the most effective offerings for your business and help
