Voluntary Benefits
Voluntary benefits are essentially anything that an employee might purchase of their own volition via
their employer where the costs are met by a deduction from salary. The possible range of benefits that can
be selected is enormous. However, it is becoming more common for employers to focus on popular items which
employees will purchase frequently, high street shopping vouchers for example. Such arrangements only really work as a
“benefit” when there is a financial incentive for the employee to purchase such items via their employer,
generally because they are gaining a discount they might not otherwise have.
Various centrally discounted arrangements are now available, where the bulk buying power of large numbers
of employers has effectively been pooled. These can provide quite effective packages of voluntary benefits.
Additionally you may also wish to negotiate local benefits which you know will have impact, perhaps a discount
on local gym memberships, or even offer staff the opportunity to purchase company products/services at discounted rates.
Lighthouse Group Employee Benefits can help you to focus and refine the possible list of benefits to a manageable
selection which will have impact on your workforce. We can also help you design and deliver the communications that
will promote such benefits and help you to collate and administer employee’s selections.
